Sintered Clutch Plate Set Universal For Ducati Z48 / 48T Dry Clutch 36.5mm Stack Height
A 48-tooth dry clutch plate set consisting of 9 steel plates and 9 friction plates with 100% sintered friction material. Manufactured via powder metallurgy, these plates feature a matrix of copper, iron, and graphite fused directly onto a hardened steel core to resist high-RPM glazing compared to standard organic materials.
To maximise wear resistance, the friction material thickness has been increased, bringing the target total stack height to 36.89 mm (measuring at 36.9 mm). This represents the maximum permissible thickness limit for setups designed around a standard 36.5 mm stack height. This uprated plate set delivers an estimated 6,000 to 7000 miles under typical open-road, non-city conditions.

- Stack Geometry & Clamping Force
The thickness increase applies solely to the friction material across the 9 friction plates, which comprise 18 individual friction surfaces. Distributing the material expansion across these 18 sides results in a total stack height accumulation of 0.4 mm over the baseline setup, successfully achieving the final 36.9 mm target stack specification.
This added material volume significantly increases the service life of the clutch plate set. Dyno and track testing confirm that this optimised material thickness remains within the correct operating tolerances and does not adversely affect the clamping force of the clutch system under extreme riding conditions.

Optimised specifically to handle modern V4 torque, this thickened pack delivers an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 miles under typical open-road conditions. Total longevity will vary based on track frequency, hard launches, quickshifter/blipper loads, and heavy city traffic where constant clutch-in, clutch-out slippage rapidly drives up operating temperatures.
- Plate Appearance
High-temperature sintering and heat treatment leave minor surface discolouration or a light patina on the steel teeth. This is a normal characteristic of heat-treated steel and does not indicate rust, corrosion, or material degradation. It is purely cosmetic and does not affect performance. For a completely clean look before fitting, the marks can be removed with a fine-grit abrasive pad.
