What is the difference between 'STANDARD' & 'MAX'?
In terms of hardware, the MAX kit includes upgrades to both the PCB board and the servo motor. These are advanced versions of the components used in the standard kit, and both can also be upgraded later if you already have the standard kit.

In terms of software, the MAX F1 FLIPPER kit is fully compatible with our newly developed Android APP, which allows total control of the plate flipper. Using your Android phone, you can pair with the MAX kit via Bluetooth to:
- Customise both the 'NORMAL' and 'FLIPPED' positions.
- Real-time self monitoring all components of the kit when powered, in the rare event of a disconnection or a fault in the servo motor etc. The button will flash constantly to alert you that the system is in need of attention.
- Enable self-test mode
When the motorcycle’s ignition is switched on, the ring button will flash briefly. Double-click the button to enter self-test mode, during which the plate will perform a full operational cycle and carry out a self-diagnosis to detect any faults. If any issues are detected by the sensors, the ring light will flash rapidly to indicate a problem.
- Auto Level the open and closed positions with our automated sequence (servo motor detects the max possible flip angle & the 'CLOSED/NORMAL' position that has the minimum gap possible to the base bracket).
- Selectable ‘Plate Return Mode’ – enables or disables whether the plate returns to 'NORMAL' position automatically upon switching off the bike. This means in ‘RETURN ON’ mode, the control board automatically detects the motorcycle’s status. When the ignition is switched off, the system triggers the plate to return to the ‘NORMAL’ position (if it was flipped) before the control unit powers down.
DOES IT FIT MY BIKE?
Designed as a direct bolt-on solution. The main bracket measures 180mm x 85mm, sitting cleanly behind registration plates ranging from 7" x 5" up to standard UK 9" x 7" (and international sizes up to 300mm x 150mm) without requiring trimming for aesthetics. Any plate dimension can be installed.
Compatible with OEM plate holders and aftermarket tail tidy setups, provided there is sufficient clearance between the number plate and rear tyre to accommodate the actuation travel.
WOULD I HAVE TO STOP & CHECK?
No. The control button features real-time LED illumination for instant status feedback. While the standard unit lights up when flipped, the F1 MAX incorporates an integrated real-time angle sensor that continuously monitors position, actively signaling a fault error if the plate is obstructed or out of alignment.
HOW DO I install it?
Installation utilises factory-style wiring connectors to integrate directly into the motorcycle's electrical system without cutting, splicing, or soldering.
Certain aftermarket tail tidy setups with tapered or triangular mounting plates may require minor trimming of the lower mounting flange to ensure proper mechanism clearance.
Step-by-step procedures and wiring schematics are provided in the INSTALLATION GUIDE (link). A 6-month warranty covers manufacturing defects; failures resulting from improper installation or incorrect wiring are excluded from coverage.
HOW TO SET A CUSTOM FLIP ANGLE?
Following order placement, an order confirmation email is issued within 1–2 working days containing instructions to measure and submit required angle specifications. This ensures optimal clearance for builds with high-level exhausts or non-standard tail setups.
While standard units are factory-preset prior to dispatch, the MAX version supports dynamic adjustment of both ‘NORMAL’ and ‘FLIPPED’ angles via the Bluetooth Android application. Step-by-step instructions are available in the FLIPPERSET GUIDE.
WHAT IS THE 'SAFE LOCK MODE'?
SAFE LOCK MODE is a tamper-resistant security function designed to override normal system operations.
When engaged via a specific input sequence, the mechanism locks in the primary, fully visible plate position and remains engaged even when the ignition is switched off.
System State in Safe Lock Mode:
- Control button illumination and tactile feedback are disabled.
- Servo motor maintains holding torque in the primary position.
- System operates silently to prevent unintended actuation or tampering.
Power Consumption Notice:
- Standard Operation: The onboard processor automatically cuts power when the ignition switches off to prevent battery drain.
- Safe Lock Mode: The unit draws continuous standby current to maintain motor position. To prevent parasitic battery drain during extended storage or engine-off periods, Safe Lock Mode must be deactivated when the motorcycle is not in use.
Can the plate automatically flip to 'normal' position when my bike is switched on?
Yes. Both Standard and MAX versions are factory-configured to execute an automatic reset upon system boot.
When the control unit detects ignition power, the mechanism automatically actuates the plate holder back to the primary ‘NORMAL’ position, preventing unintended operation in non-standard angles.
Can I set the plate to automatically return when switching off my bike?
Yes. When ‘RETURN ON’ mode is selected, the control unit detects ignition power termination and actuates the mechanism back to the primary ‘NORMAL’ position prior to complete system shutdown.
Note: The RETURN ON/OFF configuration mode is available exclusively on the MAX version kit.
How does the system differ from conventional alternatives?
The F1 FLIPPER is engineered to resolve common mechanical and electrical failure points found in standard plate-flipping mechanisms, specifically gear wear from road vibration, water ingress, and processor instability.
- Custom Motor & Control Hardware: Cusom motor controlled via a bespoke PCB and dedicated firmware architecture rather than off-the-shelf components.
- Vibration Dampening Architecture: Integrates rubber isolation pads and Z-axis dampening bushings to decouple gear linkages from high-frequency road vibration, extending motor operational lifespan.
- Algorithmic Stabilisation: Active control algorithms monitor and compensate for transient chassis movement during actuation.
- Software-Based Locking: Features built-in Safe Lock Mode directly in the firmware, eliminating the need for extra external switches.
